All About The Pony...
Don’t Mess With The Pony (DMWTP) are a dynamic, jazz inspired indie-fusion trio from Melbourne. Featuring two singer/songwriters, this eclectic outfit composes their own material, which is focused on creating lush and captivating harmonies that support and enhance their deep rhythmic grooves.
With a diverse range of influences including John Mayer, Me’ Shell N’degeocello, Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell and Dave Matthews Band, the trio has combined their extraordinary individual talents to create music with the depth to engage commercial radio listeners, critics and fellow musicians. DMWTP’s live music shows are versatile and spontaneous. The audience can expect anything from rockin’ guitar solos to smooth sensual vocals, delivered with vibrant rhythms and solid bass lines.
Since forming the band in 2002, the band has recorded two independent EPs including the first release Colour of Mind (2004) and, most recently, The Four Secrets (2006). In July 2007 the band will release a double single, recorded by Australian producer Kalju Tonuma.
In 2006 the trio played at the Queenscliff Music Festival appearing alongside acts such as Blue King Brown and The Audreys. In this year also, Get Out of Your Head made it into the top 100 of the Music Oz Awards.
DMWTP have toured extensively throughout Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. In January 2007 the trio conducted a two-week tour of Northern Victoria, NSW and Adelaide, promoting their EP The Four Secrets. They gathered strong support for their music and lifted the spirits of many fire-affected communities. Radio airplay from ABC Radio National, RRR, Joy FM and Coastal FM enabled them to promote their tour and expose new audiences to their music.
n July 2007, DMWTP will embark on their first international tour. They will be performing at festivals and venues throughout British Columbia, Canada. During the second half of the tour DMWTP will support Emaline Delapaix, a Canadian performer who has secured a strong fan-base across North America and Europe.
On returning from Canada, DMWTP will officially launch their upcoming CD and begin the Australian music festival circuit.
